Sponsor Request

Barn Hill Preserve was founded in March of 2013 with a goal to educate, entertain, and inspire the surrounding comunites using live "animal ambassadors." Gabriel Ligon founded Barn Hill after working with wildlife in Louisiana. His passion gave rise to the dream of providing animal education programs to schools throughout the United States. As of June 2015, the Barn Hill Preserve has educated over 800,000 students at over 1000 schools.

In addition to mobile education programs, Barn Hill Preserve frequently opens its gates to visitors in beautiful East Feliciana Parish. Barn Hill dreams of providing a unique hands on experience that will bring in visitors from across the country. Strong community involement and support from local sponsors will allow Barn Hill Preserve to become one of the most unique tourist attractions in Louisiana.

The vision for Barn Hill Preserve involves a multitude of unique hands-on encounters. Currently 20 macaws reside on our property. The majority of the parrots were acquired through owners that could no longer care for them. These beautiful birds range in ages from 1 to 40 years old and can be viewed flying around the property throughout the day. This is one of the many unique encounters that allow the public to make lasting connections with our planet's amazing animals. Other unique encounters include kangaroo walkabouts, Eurasian Lynx encounters, and time to kiss "Clyde" the camel.

Barn Hill is attempting to secure sponsors for a variety of animal enclosures. These enclosures will allow a larger variety of animals to be accommodated and attract more visitors. When designing an enclosure the animal's species-specific needs are always the first priority. The next steps in the design process are location, aesthetic value, and ease of viewing/encounters by visitors. The United States Department of Agriculture is the governing body over businesses and organizations that exhibit animals. The "Class C" permit that is held by the facility assures animal welfare, good animal hygiene, and adequate enclosure size through yearly inspections.

Since Barn Hill is a private business (we are not a 501c3) we cannot provide a "charitable donation write-off." Instead we utilize the strategy implemented by many private zoos and similar businesses. In return for sponsoring we provide advertising through signs, banners, social media, newsletters, and promotional events. Current sponsors include McDonald Pharmacy's Kangaroo Walkabout Enclosure, Frogskin's t-shirt printing, Sonic (Clinton, Louisiana), Curry's Pharmacy Lynx Enclosure, and D.A. Sam Daquilla's Educator Workshop.
